The RFL Currently work in over 500 schools across England and Wales, We run a series of Friendly and competitive competitions to help pupils of all ages and abilities to take part in the game.

All our Schools Coaching ,Playing opportunities, and Competitions work towards benefiting your school and community by:

Emerging 9s Competition

Emerging 9s is an ideal way for your school to take part in Rugby League if you are new to the sport

Schools are offered the chance to take up coaching skills leading to competitions which start at Local service areas leading to Regional and Cross County Finals.

Those teams who do not make it through to the national stages of the Champions Schools competition are automatically entered into the emerging 9s competition

Champion Schools Competition

The Champion Schools tournament is the world’s biggest Rugby League knockout competition and one of the greatest success stories for the sport.

Open to every secondary school in England, Wales and Scotland – the tournament was re-launched back in 2002 by the RFL and the English Schools Rugby League.

Rugby League has seen an immense growth in schools over the last few years which will support the development of the sport in the future and this competition has played a vital role in introducing the game to an ever increasing number of young people throughout the United Kingdom.

This year’s tournament has seen a Staggering 1785 teams, 30,773 players who participate in the competition.

Traditionally the year 7’s (Under 12’s) final is played as a curtain raiser game ahead of the Challenge Cup Final.
