Fages makes France World Cup squad
Salford City Reds’ teenage scrum-half Theo Fages has been included in France coach Richard Agar's provisional 40-strong World Cup squad.
The 18-year-old Fages has been with the City Reds for the last two years and has made a big impression after breaking into their Super League team earlier this year.
There are 17 players from Catalan Dragons, including Olivier Elima, last year's captain who is currently recovering from a ruptured bicep.
Also included is former Dragons second rower Sebastien Raguin, who stepped down from Super League at the end of last season to become the club's full-time general manager but still plays for feeder team UTC.
The squad, which will meet up in Perpignan next week for the first training camp, will be trimmed to 23 or 24 by October 1 and could still include overseas-based players Clint Greenshields, Dimitri Pelo, Benjamin Garcia and Tony Gigot.
A decision has also yet to be taken over whether to include Catalan Dragons’ Australia-born scrum-half Scott Dureau, who qualifies under the three-year residency rule later this year.
