Barlow Joins Rovers on Loan
Featherstone Rovers have confirmed reports that powerhouse forward Sam Barlow has joined the club on loan for the remainder of the 2013 season from Halifax.
Since arriving at the Shay in 2010, Barlow has made a total of 72 appearances scoring 38 tries including 7 tries in 2013 from 15 appearances. Previously of Sheffield Eagles and Huddersfield Giants, Barlow is a product of Kings Cross and was included at prop in the Championship All Stars Team of 2012.
Majority shareholder Feisal Nahaboo said “We welcome Sam for the remainder of the season as we strengthen our squad with immense focus on bringing silverware back to Featherstone. What happened last year was a disaster for this club and we now have a much stronger squad and I expect Sam to be a key signing to help us win trophies over the next couple of months. Sam will be no stranger to Featherstone Rovers supporters after some of his excellent performances against ourselves in previous matches. He has hurt us, now he will help us hurt others.
“Signing Sam at this stage of the season is like finding a pile of cash and buying a top Super League star! He has joined us at the right time and I believe we will get the best out of him. I expect our club to finish the season strongly and our aim now is to remain unbeaten for the rest of 2013. We have announced the retention of some of current players over the last couple of days and we expect to make further announcements this week to give our loyal supporters a further boost before we face Swinton Lions on Sunday. This club is shaping up for Super League and we are making giant strides towards top flight rugby.”
