Wolves help Unicorns get Engaged
Organised by former Super League title sponsor, Engage Mutual, in association with Rugby League Cares, “engage with your club” aims to help clubs recruit a volunteer workforce and improve their facilities by holding action events.
The Wolves first team squad held a training session on Victoria Park, the home of Latchford Albion, before donning the programme T shirts, signing autographs and interacting with fans and young players. The Unicorns U8s and U11s were also treated to a high-quality training session delivered by Michael and Joel Monaghan and Tyrone McCarthy.
Latchford Club Coordinator, Steve Phillips was delighted with the event. “It was wonderful for us to host a Wolves training session and then link this to our “engage with your club” activity. The presence of the Wolves created a real buzz and ensured that we had excellent participation from club members. Some of the Wolves’ players especially Tyrone McCarthy and Ben Westwood really helped out and got their hands dirty”.
Wolves and England Star Adrian Morley gave the event his support. “Programmes like “engage with your club” are vital,” he said.
“As professionals we can help to raise awareness of what needs to be done and try to help improve facilities. If we can improve facilities we can get more people playing our great game. I think this is a great initiative and one the Wolves are really pleased to be involved with.”
Tony Smith was similarly enthusiastic “We believe it is important for our players to work with our grass roots. We believe we need a strong connection with our grass roots and hope our players can be great role models for these young players.”
