Barrow Raiders 36-18 Workington Town
Welcome win for Barrow
Barrow provided coach Darren Holt with a perfect pick-me-up in his battle against cancer with a 36-18 derby victory over Workington to ease their Kingstone Press Championship relegation fears.
Holt, who had been absent from the club for the last fortnight after undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous tumour, returned to guide his side to a crucial victory in which they scored six tries, two of them from Max Wiper before half-time.
Workington were level at 18-18 early in the second half thanks to tries from former England full-back Shaun Briscoe, Danny Craven and Declan Hulme, but the Raiders clinched victory with touchdowns from Dean McGilvray, Dan Toal and Ben Hellewell.
