Leigh Centurions 14-15 Batley Bulldogs
Black keeps Batley alive
Ben Black's golden-point drop goal ensured Batley live to fight another day in the Kingstone Press Championship play-offs after they saw off Leigh 15-14 in a thriller.
The Bulldogs' heroics should come as no surprise seeing as John Kear is their coach but, even by the veteran cup king's standards, this was quite something.
They were outscored by three tries to one, with their points coming from Alex Bretherton's touch down and five goals from Gareth Moore.
Leigh's scores went to Adam Higson, Simon Finnigan and Jonathan Pownall, with Martin Ridyard adding just one goal. His misery was compounded when he failed with a last-second penalty which would have settled things.
Golden point followed, though, and from there Black stole the show, with Batley now waiting to see who they will face for a place in the Grand Final.
