Oldham RLFC 64-8 London Skolars
Ford on song in Oldham romp
John Ford scored a hat-trick of tries as Oldham coasted into the Kingstone Press Championship 1 Grand Final with a 64-8 victory over London Skolars.
The Roughyeds were narrowly beaten last week by Rochdale Hornets and will get a chance of revenge at Leigh Sports Village, with the winners taking their place in the Championship next season alongside regular-season champions North Wales Crusaders.
Oldham made a strong start and tries from Josh Crowley, Ford, Dale Bloomfield and Richard Lepori, all converted by Lewis Palfrey, saw them lead 24-0 after just 12 minutes.
But the Skolars didn't lie down and a pair of tries of their own from Alex Hurst and John Paxton got them back into the game.
However, it was Oldham who finished the half strong and Ford completed his hat-trick with Palfrey taking his tally to six goals to give the Roughyeds a 36-8 half-time advantage.
David Cookson, Adam Files (2), Danny Langtree and Bloomfield went in after the break with Palfrey taking his tally to 10 as Oldham wrapped up a comfortable triumph.
