Three Academy players suspended for punching
Three Super League Academy players have been suspended for punching during recent Academy play-off fixtures.
Wigan Warriors winger Joe Burgess has been suspended for three matches and fined £25 after being found guilty of Grade B sustained punching in an Academy play-off fixture against Leeds Rhinos on Saturday September 14.
Wigan full-back Lewis Tierney was suspended for two matches and also fined £25 after being found guilty of Grade B running in and punching in the same match.
Wigan forward Ryan Sutton was fined £25 but avoided suspension for Grade A punching while team-mate Oliver Gildart submitted an Early Guilty Plea in relation to a Grade A punching offence in the same play-off fixture. Gildart avoids suspension but loses the right to submit a further Early Guilty Plea for the next 12 months.
Leeds Rhinos player Elliott Minchella has been suspended for one match for a Grade B punch in the fixture against Wigan on September 14. Minchella was also fined £25.
Leeds players George Milton (Grade A striking with the hand) and Alex Foster (Grade A punching) both submitted EGPs in relation to offences committed in the Wigan v Leeds Academy play-off fixture, and lose the right to use an EGP for 12 months.
Rhinos player Mason Tonks and Adam Hesketh of St Helens both submitted EGPs in relation to Grade A punching offences committed in the 79thminute of their Academy play-off game on Friday September 20.
