Pettybourne gets World Cup call

Wigan’s new signing Eddy Pettybourne is set to play in the World Cup after being called up as a late replacement for the United States.

Wigan Warriors’ new signing Eddy Pettybourne is set to play in the World Cup after being called up as a late replacement for the United States.

The 25-year-old Wests Tigers forward, who will link up with the Warriors after the tournament, replaces the injured Andrew Durutalo, of the USA Eagles, in coach Terry Matterson's 24-man squad.

The Christchurch-born played for the Australian schoolboys in 2005 but, after opting to represent his native New Zealand, was called up by the Kiwis for the 2009 Four Nations tour to the UK as a late replacement but did not get to make his Test debut and actually played for Samoa against Tonga this year.
