Samoa omit Asotasi
Samoa arrived in England for their World Cup campaign today without forward Roy Asotasi, who will play for Warrington Wolves next season.
The 31-year-old former New Zealand international was included in Samoa's official 24-man squad which was released by organisers last Wednesday but was not on the flight that touched down in Manchester.
A World Cup spokesman said that Asotasi had been included in Samoa's initial 26-man squad but was omitted when it was trimmed to the regulation 24 after the official publication of the tournament squads.
Asotasi was captain of Samoa in their 'domestic' international against Tonga in Penrith earlier this year which they lost 36-4.
Samoa have set up base in Warrington, which will be the venue for their opening group match against holders New Zealand on Sunday 27 October.
