England Rugby League will wear jerseys embroidered with poppies when they take on Fiji in this Saturday’s Rugby League World Cup 2013 final Group A match at KC Stadium, Hull, kick off 2.30pm.

There will be a minute’s silence ahead of the match, when for the fifth successive year, the national team will don the special shirts to commemorate Remembrance weekend.

"It's important for the national team to pay their respects this weekend,” said England Coach Steve McNamara.

“The Poppy Appeal raises millions of pounds for the families of those who are involved in the armed forces.

"Everybody has the utmost respect for the members of those involved in the armed forces, and their families. Saturday is a great opportunity for the players and the fans to pay their respects.”

The national team have also invited RAF Warrant Officer Damian Clayton MBE to present the team with their shirts at a special shirt presentation on Friday at the squad’s base in Hull. Clayton, who is the secretary of the Armed Forces Rugby League team, will talk about the work of the Armed Forces and explain the significance of Remembrance weekend.
