Latest Schools award winner named.

Alison Balsamini is the latest winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Schools Rugby League Award.

The Brakenfield High School teacher has been rewarded for her efforts in the game which started back in 2006 in her former role at Settle Middle School.

Nominated by Bedale High School’s Mark Glover, Alison formed an RL side at Settle which went on to become champions of North Yorkshire, Yorkshire and then picked up the National title in 2009.

Following the schools closure last year Alison became unemployed but still helped former colleagues start RL in their new schools, before she landed a new role Brakenfield School, Harrogate, and once again founded a side which has gone on to enter the Champion Schools competition.

Another notable achievement for her came when Lauren Stallwood recently broke in the England women’s side having been introduced to the sport by Alison at Settle.
