Asotasi and England in line for bows
Prop forwards Roy Asotasi and Anthony England are set to make their First Utility Super League debuts in Warrington Wolves’ opening game of the season against St Helens at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Thursday.
They were included in coach Tony Smith's 19-man squad but fellow newcomer Matty Russell misses out after failing to recover from an ankle injury suffered during the club's training camp in Australia.
Stefan Ratchford is set to deputise at full-back in the absence of Russell, with either Gareth O'Brien or Michael Monaghan partnering Richie Myler at half-back.
Forwards Simon Grix, Ben Harrison and Paul Wood, who were in the Wolves team beaten by Wigan Warriors in October's Grand Final, also sit out the opener through injury, which paves the way for call-ups for Glenn Riley and Ben Evans, who spent last season on loan to Bradford Bulls.
St Helens will give debuts to former Wakefield Trinity Wildcats prop Kyle Amor and Australian scrum-half Luke Walsh, but Samoan front rower Mose Masoe is still recovering from ankle surgery.
