Sandercock hopeful over Langley

Hull KR coach Craig Sandercock is hopeful that Jamie Langley will be fit and available for selection against Castleford Tigers on Friday.

Hull KR head coach Craig Sandercock is hopeful that Jamie Langley will be fit and available for selection when Castleford Tigers roll into town on Friday night.

The former Bradford Bulls player was stretchered off just before halftime in the thrilling 24-24 draw at Huddersfield Giants last weekend having taken a heavy knock to the head.

However, having shown no ill effects from the injury, Sandercock is keeping his fingers crossed that Langley will be cleared to play in the clash against the table-topping Tigers.

“Jamie was heavily concussed at the weekend but seems to have recovered really well,” he said. “He’ll do the appropriate ‘COG’ tests later in the week and we’ll also consult the doctor. If Jamie gets the all clear to be involved then he’ll definitely be playing.

“I spoke to him after the game at Huddersfield and he seemed coherent. He also hasn’t had any headaches so we’re quietly confident that he’ll be right to play which would be a big boost. Jamie is one of our senior players who is very valuable to us so I’m hoping that he’ll be right for the weekend.”

Ben Cockayne also picked up a gash to the cheek early on in the game at Huddersfield but was fit enough to return then and will play this Friday night.

“Ben has half a dozen stitches in there but there are no drama’s with him and he’ll be fine to play,” Sandercock added. “Everyone else who played last weekend should also be available.”
