'We weren’t good enough' - Horne
Graeme Horne says that the performance against Castleford simply wasn’t good enough and that he and his team-mates had no excuses.
The Robins were second-best to the Tigers on the night and Horne cut a disconsolate figure when he spoke to www.hullkr.tv afterwards.
“Our performance just wasn’t good enough and that’s the top and bottom of it,” he said. “As players we’re extremely disappointed in ourselves and have to make sure we don’t serve up something like that again.
“We played into Castleford’s hands really. They came into the game on the back of completing their sets well in the previous two weeks and they did it again on Friday night. I think we completed at around 65 per cent while they were up at 85 or 90 per cent and that paints its own picture. It was just very disappointing from us and there’s not much more you can say about it. We know we’re a lot better than that but it didn’t happen for us on Friday night.”
As disappointing as Friday night was, Horne is adamant that he and the rest of the Robins’ squad can turn things around.
“It’s early days and we have a new halfback partnership in there,” he added. “We’ve also had disruptions with Mick (Weyman) and Justin (Poore) being suspended and one or two more missing on top of that due to injury. That hasn’t helped us and if we can get a settled side and keep working hard, I’m sure we’ll go well.”
