Halifax RLFC 28-36 Leigh Centurions
Centurions maintain perfect record
Leigh overcame the dismissal of Sam Barlow to complete a tremendous comeback at Halifax and maintain their 100 per cent record in the Kingstone Press Championship with a 36-28 win at the Shay.
The Centurions were heading for their first defeat of 2014 when Halifax ran in tries through Andy Bracek, Ross Divorty and Ryan Fieldhouse (two) - all converted by Steve Tyrer - to lead 24-0.
But Barlow scored on the stroke of half-time to give the visitors a glimmer of hope and they turned the game around in the second half, with stand-off Ryan Brierley scoring twice to take his tally for the season to 17 in seven matches and Tommy Goulden, Matt Sarsfield and Tom Armstrong also scoring tries and Martyn Ridyard kicking six conversions.
That came despite the 66th-minute sending off of former Halifax forward Barlow for dissent.
Ben Heaton scored the final try of the match just before the end but it was not enough to prevent Halifax suffering a third defeat of the season.
