Oldham keep pressure on leaders
Michael Ward and Danny Langtree each scored a brace of tries as Oldham kept the pressure on the Kingstone Press Championship 1 leaders with a 48-28 victory over Oxford at Whitebank Stadium.
Ward and Danny Whitmore went over for the hosts with Lewis Palfrey sending over both conversions before Alex Thompson got Oxford back into the game with a try of his own, Jimmy Rowland adding the extras.
Ward and Callum Mulkeen exchanged converted tries before Langtree went over two minutes before the interval as Oldham extended their advantage and Palfrey converted before adding another goal on the stroke of half-time.
George Tyson and Langtree crossed early in the second half and Palfrey yet again converted both as Oldham began to pull clear.
Thompson's second try of the game, converted by Rowland, got Oxford back into it but Oldham responded with tries from Mo Agoro and David Cookson and Palfrey took his goal tally to eight with the extras to Agoro's try.
Oxford made the score more respectable with late tries from Marcus Brooker and Rory Sharratt with Rowland adding another goal.
