London Skolars 34-28 Hemel Stags
Skolars hold on to beat Hemel
London Skolars held off a late fightback to claim their fourth win of the season with a 34-28 victory over Hemel Stags.
Hemel were first to get on the scoresheet as James Cameron ran in for the try and it was 10-0 when Evan Simons went over, only for Barry John Swindells to miss the conversion.
Anthony Cox pulled one back for London, but James Hill extend the Stags' advantage shortly afterwards.
Neither kicker was in great form as Swindells missed again and Courtney Davies was wide for the second time following Mufaro Mvududu's try.
Mike Bishay added the extras from Cox's second try of the afternoon as Skolars levelled the scores, and they went ahead for the first time as Davies went over and Bishay converted before going over himself to make it 26-14 at the break.
Ryan McDonald extended London's lead, and although that inspired a revival from Hemel with Romain Navarette, Hill and Cameron scoring tries to make it 32-28, a late penalty from Davies secured the points.
