Cordoba becomes 14th recruit for the 2015 season
London Broncos have signed experienced prop forward Josh Cordoba on a two-year contract from the 2015 season.
Born in Australia but holding a Spanish passport Cordoba (30) has played over 100 first team games in the NRL and Super League. He appeared 60 times for Parramatta Eels between 2006 and 2009, 36 for Cronulla Sharks between 2010 and 2012 and eight for Hull FC in 2009.
"I'm very happy, as soon as I heard Joey Grima had taken over as coach. I told Ray Nasso to give him my number and call me and within an hour he called me,” said Cordoba. "I couldn't be any happier playing under Joey.”
"We spent a couple of years at Parramatta where we were fairly successful, winning a couple of competitions. That's probably one of the main reasons why I wanted to come. I'd like to be part of something and I know what Joey can do as a coach - not only as a coach but in running a club and setting up the way a club should be run.”
Head coach Joey Grima is pleased with the signing of Cordoba saying: "Josh Cordoba is an important signing for us,” said Joey Grima. "I've been fortunate enough to coach Josh at both at the Eels and Sharks. With the professionalism he trains with and the integrity he plays with on the footy field, he's going to be someone that will lead us around the park. With him and Nick Slyney in the front row it gives us such a great foundation.
"Josh brings over a wealth of experience, not only as a rugby league player but as a mature person. He'll be an asset to our club particularly in our cultural direction.”
Cordoba is the clubs 14th signing for the 2015 season which includes: Jonathan Wallace, Harvey Burnett, Toby Everett, Joe Keyes, Nick Slyney, Liam Foran, Joel Wicks, Iliess Macani, James Woodburn-Hall, Ray Nasso, Oscar Thomas, Ben Farrar and Daniel Harrison.
