Thornley out for season
Wigan Warriors centre Iain Thornley has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury sustained in training.
The 22-year-old made his comeback from a four-month absence with a torn pectoral muscle only last Friday but is now facing another lay-off of up to eight months.
Thornley, who was a key member of the Warriors' double-winning team in 2013 and had made an impressive start to this season with eight tries in his first nine matches, hurt his knee on Monday and had his worst fears confirmed when he went for scans yesterday.
Wigan coach Shaun Wane said: "I'm devastated for Iain.
"He has worked incredibly hard this season to come back from an injury that looked to have finished his season. I couldn't have asked for any more from him. He is a great professional and deserves better luck than this.
"Our medical team will now put a plan in place for Iain to help aid his recovery."
