Winless London Broncos proved to be the perfect opponent for Hull FC as they got back on track following their derby loss with a 40-4 win at the KC Stadium.

Cut down with 46 seconds left of a bruising clash against Hull KR on Thursday, Hull would surely have been glad to see the Broncos, now on zero points after 10 games, head to east Yorkshire.

And the afternoon proved to be the ideal recovery tonic for Lee Radford and his men as the relegation-haunted capital club shipped seven tries en route to their latest defeat.

Despite the eventual comfortable nature of the scoreline, Hull had to do it tough in the early stages, with former Bronco Liam Colbon and captain Gareth Ellis showing commendable bravery to get up from heavy collisions.

They started to find their feet quickly after that and would have scored had Jay Pitts not dallied when arriving first to a Jacob Miller kick.

Miller would lay a try on with 10 minutes gone, though, featuring prominently in a 50-metre move which was finished off by Jamie Shaul at the corner. The recalled Ben Crooks added the extras with his first of six goals.

Jordan Rankin should have added a second just after, but allowed Nick Slyney to knock the ball out of his hands after he side-stepped over the line. Yet Crooks made no mistake when he hot-footed it through gap to score from 20 metres out.

London finally showed an attacking hand with 25 minutes gone as Nesiasi Mataitonga broke from 50 metres out and gave Denny Solomona a walk-in to the corner, but the winger inexplicably dropped the ball.

That was as good as it got for them in the first half as Jordan Thompson steamed onto a Joe Westerman ball to add a third Hull score, before Rankin held on to one for a fourth as he went 40 metres off a brilliant Ellis offload.

Solomona's afternoon got worse after the break as he was sin-binned for holding the lively Miller, who then got to the four-pointer his performance deserved after further impressive work from Ellis.

With the game won, Hull were able to play a little more off the cuff and that applied to no-one more than Shaul, who scored a fine second when he chipped over the top of Mataitonga and collected it to dot down.

London at least contributed to the scoreboard after that as Mason Caton-Brown - a promising youngster amid another poor season for the club - burrowed under some traffic to add four unconverted points.

A quiet period followed as Hull made a number of changes, but Rankin stayed on and added his second 12 minutes from the end as he showed good explosion close to the line.
