Making Sense of the Tables and Graphs from Section 3

Religion

Top left table -  comprises data from the 2011 census and lists 9 categories. The first column lists the numbers from each faith group in your Local Authority (LA), the second column the numbers across the wider county, the third column is the combined numbers for England and Wales. The forth column is where your LA is ranked against other LA’s in your county and final column show where your LA is ranked in relation to all LA’s in England and Wales

Top Right Table - comprises data from the 2001 census and compares the growth or retraction from each faith category between the 2001 and 2011 census. The first two columns related to LA changes, the third and fourth to county level changes and the final two columns to changes across England and Wales.

Left Bar chart - shows the percentage of each faith group in your LA

Right Bar chart - represents growth or retraction of each faith group in your LA over the last ten years. Bars to the left of the 0 indicate a % drop in numbers and bars to the right represent a% growth.


Ethnic Group

2011 Top table - comprises data from 2011 listing the ethnic categories used. The first column indicates the numbers in each group within the LA, the second column the numbers within your county, the third are the numbers across England and Wales, the fourth is where the LA is ranked as compared to other LA’s in your county in terms of numbers from each ethnic group and the final column shows where your LA is ranked across all the LA’s in England and Wales.

Table below – comprises a cumulative total of each grouping from 2011 census i.e. white includes, the three sub sections listed in the table above. Again this shows the numbers and ranking at a LA, County and England Wales level.

Bar chart to right – summary of the numbers from each group across the LA

2001Top table - lists numbers of people from each ethnic group. The first column indicates the total number within your LA, the second column the change over the last 10 years (expressed as a minus number if retraction), the third column shows the total figures for your county, the fourth the change over the last ten years, the fifth and sixth refer to figures for England and Wales

Lower table – comprises a cumulative total of each grouping from the 2001 census i.e. white includes, the three sub sections listed in the table above. Again this shows the numbers and changes at a LA, County and England Wales level.

Bar chart – shows the percentage changes in ethnic groups in your LA from 2001 and 2011 census, bars to the left of the 0 indicate a retraction in the numbers and bars to the right indicate a growth in numbers


Economic Activity

Top left table – represents the data relating to levels of economic activity from the 2011 census. The first column is the data relating to the LA, the second to the county, the third to England and Wales and the final column related to how the LA is ranked against all the other LA in your county

Top right table – represents the data relating to levels of economic activity from the 2001 census. The first column are the numbers from each category in the LA, the second column is the change between 2001 and 2011, the third and fourth columns relate to numbers and changes between 2001 and 2011 at a county level and the final two columns to England and Wales

Bottom left bar chart – Figures from 2011 expressed as a percentage of the population, broken down into LA’s, County and England and Wales

Bottom Right bar chart -  shows the percentage changes in economic activity from your LA from 2001 and 2011 census, bars to the left of the 0 indicate a retraction in the numbers and bars to the right indicate a growth in numbers
